I took a red-eye out of Las Vegas last night and have only now sat down to my computer at the end of the trip. I have a variety of observations to share about my time at the NFDA convention and expo but I need to make time for much needed sleep first. In the mean time, a couple of quick comments about my Wilbert posting from the other day.
A few were confused by the apparent abruptness of my Wilbert defection. To clarify, let me say that I had not found Wilbert the most enjoyable company to deal with up here in New England over a long stretch of time. I had remained loyal to the product more so than the parent company. When they pulled their product out of the show, that became the straw which broke the camel's back. If they can't even pretend to demonstrate pride in what they do, then why should I continue to pretend I had pride in sending my money to them. That's the nature of my decision.
I want you to know that as of this evening I have heard nothing from anyone at Wilbert Vault. No phone calls, no emails, no messages at my funeral home office. Apparently, the loss of my business does not matter to them (even a loss as public as this).
Interestingly, during Tuesday and Wednesday of the expo I did keep hearing brief stories from vendors I knew telling me how representatives from Wilbert had made comments about "the funeral director" who had been blogging the show. They seem to have talked about me with quite a few people at the expo. They just never got around to talking with me directly. Not exactly a model of customer focus, concern and responsiveness.
