The heart stops, harvest organs, where in the past surgeons had to wait for a declaration of brain death. This revised approach increases the number of organs available for transplant. At the same time, it can create tremendous ethical pressures. For instance, sometimes hearts will restart on their own, so when is someone truly dead?
