Today's New York Times includes an article about alternative hospice programs for infants with fatal disease. Often this involves a known genetic disease, so the programs provide pre-natal support (such as special birthing classes away from mothers of healthy children) and planning which allow the parents and immediate family to have as rich an experience of life in the short time available. Amazing process.
